On July 5th, 2009, the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse and its partners will host the 4th annual “My World…Your World…Our World…Free of Elder Abuse” conference in Paris, France.

To foster “virtual” global participation, conference sponsors are piloting an E-Blast – an email forum that will enable advocates around the world to follow conference happenings and to share comments and questions.

Registration by email is required in order to participate. Click here for more information.

Here are some of the highlights:

My World…Your World…Free of Elder Abuse: Read what is happening in Alabama, Delaware, Minnesota, Vermont, and Wyoming to commemorate World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, and learn how to participate “virtually” in the official international observance in Paris.

Color Our World Purple on June 15th!: Everyone is encouraged to create a vibrant and visible statement by wearing – and using – the color purple. Read how and why advocate and psychologist Nora Baladerian suggests we use this no cost public awareness strategy.

“Words Not Spoken” – Bringing the Issue of Elder Abuse to Life Through Improvisational Theater: Hedda Matza-Haughton, LCSW, has been using improvisational theater for over twenty years for prevention and education work, in order to break through the barriers and stigma that surround many unspeakable subjects, such as elder abuse.
