NCEA Partners
The National Center on Elder Abuse (NCEA) operates as a unique, multi-disciplinary consortium of equal partners with expertise in elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Over the years, the NCEA collaborators have worked towards helping the nation better address and respond to elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Not only have the NCEA collaborators come from various professional fields, the NCEA has proven a valuable resource to many professionals working in some way with older victims of elder mistreatment, including: adult protective services; national, state, and local aging networks; law enforcement; health care professionals; domestic violence networks; and others.
AoA is proud of the organizations that have collaborated in making the NCEA the foremost federal source of information on elder mistreatment, and dedicates this “Partners” section to recognizing their contributions and their on-going commitment to protecting our most vulnerable citizens.
A national resource center is not born overnight. There are countless hours invested in developing and organizing materials and website content, and responding to inquiries, providing training and technical assistance. AoA thanks each of the NCEA collaborators for their work, and for the development of the content of this website.
AoA would like to give special recognition to the National Association of State Units on Aging (NASUA) for the NCEA website and its long commitment to the Center. NASUA has served as either the primary grantee or subcontractor in every iteration of the NCEA since the Center’s inception in 1985. As a leader in the field of elder mistreatment, NASUA was instrumental in moving the NCEA into the modern information age. Through grant funding by AoA, NASUA had lead responsibility for designing, developing and organizing the content for, and managing the NCEA website to provide users with current and reliable elder abuse materials and links to further, in-depth information. Visitors to www.ncea.aoa.gov will recognize the content from prior versions of the NCEA website, as NASUA has worked closely with AoA to transition the website content so that professionals, advocates, and families would not lose the important information and resources they have come to rely on. The NCEA and its website exist today because of NASUA’s commitment to ensuring that they serve as the preeminent federal source of information on elder mistreatment. AoA wishes to offer utmost appreciation and thanks to NASUA for their excellent support and leadership efforts to promote elder abuse awareness through the NCEA website during its existence.
AoA looks forward to continued collaboration in the years ahead with NASUA and all of the partners that have contributed to the success of the NCEA.
