From 1988–2010, AoA provided funding to the University of Delaware to establish and maintain the Clearinghouse on Abuse and Neglect of the Elderly (CANE). It is the nation’s largest archive of published research, training resources, government documents, and other sources on elder abuse. The CANE collection is fully computerized. With more than 5,000 holdings, you can search CANE’s database to obtain references pertaining to the many facets of elder mistreatment.
As an additional research tool to help you quickly find the latest information, NCEA is publishing detailed, annotated bibliographies of recent elder abuse and neglect related articles and research studies. Each bibliography provides a summary of recent work, from a variety of disciplines, relevant to professional practice in the field of elder abuse. Each entry in the bibliography includes a citation, abstract and weblink to gain access to the document. Due to copyright restrictions, some articles may need to be purchased. This bibliography is not intended to be an exhaustive list of articles and studies on elder abuse and neglect over the specified time period, inadvertent omissions are possible.
NCEA created an excel Research Database for August 2012 to June 2013 that has a search feature in the upper right-hand corner. In order to use this function, please enable content and then click the ‘Launch Filter’ box. This allows users to filter the document for articles specific to their topic of interest. If you do not want to enable the content, or your computer will not allow this information, the excel document can still be used through the Find Feature (press [Ctrl] + F) to find entries by entering keyword, author name, article name, etc., or simply by scrolling up and down through the articles.
